Today is the third Monday in July, and Japanese people have Ocean holiday. It is a national holiday, but there are no national ceremonies. Many people visit the sea to enjoy swimming every year. I have tried to avoid a sunburn ever since I became teenager as a sunburn causes freckles and wrinkles. I’ve not been to the sea for a long time.
About 15 years ago there was a suntan fad for young girls. They went to the suntan salon to have their faces heavily suntanned. They also dyed their hair white and put on strangely looking white eyeliner and white lipstick.. They looked like black-and white film. They are called “old mountain witches” as they resembled ugly female ogres in Japanese folk tales. Young girls who enjoyed the fashion seemed to think they were cool. However, the fad had passed quickly. I assume they want to delete the past pictures, memories, and freckles as they become 30s now.
