2015年洋書100冊チャレンジ

2015年の目標、洋書100冊読書を達成することが出来ました。

 

 

合計105冊、42,948ページです。105冊のうち、90冊がオーディオブック、15冊が読書でした。平均すると1日117ページ、語数は読書が74万9086語、オーディオブックが1105万6440語です。

 

今年読んだなかで一番短かった本は192ページ、長かった本は932ページ、1冊の平均は413ページでした。

 

goodreadsに本を登録しておくと、年末になると”See Your Year in Books!”という項目がHome画面トップに現れます。これをクリックすると、上記のように読んだ本の合計やページ数、平均評価、人気の本などが表示されます。

 

 

だいたい無理なく読める洋書数は年50冊なので、自分のペースを大幅に超えた読書チャレンジでした。2012年ごろから徐々に目で読む読書からオーディオブックにシフトしていき、今では大部分がオーディオブックです。オーディオブックなら忙しくても読書ペースを落とさなくてすむので、オーディオブック読書が出来るようになって本当に良かったです。

 

洋書100冊リーディングに挑戦して良かったのは、思いがけない良書との出会いがあったことでした。読書目標を年に50冊から100冊に増やしたことで、自分の好み以外でも、ふと目についた本を読んでみようかという気持ちの余裕が出てきます。今年はこれまでにあまり読まなかったSFやミステリーにも挑戦出来た一年でした。特に北欧ミステリーのお気に入り、Department Qシリーズに出会えたのが大きな収穫でした。

 

今年洋書を105冊読んだことで英語力が大幅にアップしたかというと、あまり実感はありません。本を読むたびに面白いように新しい語彙を吸収していった時期も過ぎ、今は読み続けることで現状維持している段階かもしれません。ただ、色々な表現に触れることで、無意識ながらもアウトプットの幅が広がっていると感じています。

 

洋書100冊チャレンジの反省点としては、洋書多聴多読以外の事が出来なかった事です。3月くらいまでは、Podcastを聞いたり、ドラマを観たり、ライティングをしたりと偏りのない勉強を心がけていたのですが、途中から余裕が無くなってしまいました。読んだ感想も全部書き留めておきたかったのですが、そんな余裕もなく・・。読書感想は来年に持ち越しです。来年は洋書に偏らず、アウトプットを心がけたいと思います。
